Helping 62 Dogs in CA Escape Euthanasia

About 200 animals are put to death daily in California, the third highest euthanasia rate in the country. Many of these are healthy animals. In addition to the approximately 70 dogs already in their care, Bandit's Buddies Rescue accepts more than 200 additional dogs each year that have been turned away by others.Up to 20% of these are seniors. With a grant of $5000 from Cold Noses Foundation, Bandit's Buddies Rescue was able to save 62 more dogs by pulling them from dangerous situations and providing their medical care, spay and neuter and many of them have already found their forever homes!

One great example of how this grant helped is the case of Sparrow. Sparrow is a chihuahua mix who was rescued late last October at two months of age.  Shortly after her arrival, she was taken to the vet because of intestinal problems and a bulging left eye.  Since ongoing treatment for the eye was unsuccessful, the vet determined that removal was the only option to alleviate this painful condition.  Sparrow is now a healthy and playful puppy, and has been adopted to the perfect home.
The grant provided spay surgery, a DA2PP vaccination, and a microchip, which helped prepare her for adoption.
